As dynamic an ecosystem the Great Lakes are, we as foremost conservationists and secondly anglers and charter fishermen pay close attention to our impact as predators within this unique environment. Without a doubt we are perched on the edge of success as much as the abyss of failure if we don't act as responsible stewards to this amazing resource we call Great Lakes Salmon Fishing. Often we are asked how and why this 4 billion dollar a year sportfishery came to be, and with great pride we recant our understanding and explanation of our roles in having created this "fishing machine". As much as we know, more is what we don't know of what the future holds regardless of our past success. Every year poses great expectations and challenges to maintain what many of us believe to be the greatest salmon fishing environment in the world. Our delicate ecosystem which is constantly impacted by external forces beyond most of our control is guarded fiercely by public and commercial fishing interests. Both recreational and sportfishing interests (charter operations) are working together with state and federal resources to ensure this opporuntiy lasts for future generations to enjoy. Your support of this resource by continuing to spend money on fishing licenses, tackle, boats, fuel, tournaments, fishing charters and supportive organizations keep this dream alive for all of us. We at Profishient Charters will attempt to keep this page updated with as current of information as we have about the state of Great Lakes salmon fishing based upon a variety of both scientific and political sources both of which impact our resource equally. |
